Binaural beats have greatly affected my life. Not only that, but they were the reason I became an electronic musician. In a Meta full circle, I am excited to release this online course on Binaural Beats. It dives deep into Binarual Beats, Isochronic Tones, Frequencies, and more. Been years in the making, and honored to finally release it.
Fifteen years ago I got into being a psychonaut. It was a strange and wild point of my life. I was doing dream experiments, binaural beats, and exploring consciousness.
That time greatly shaped who I am today. In a strange full circle, I have been revisiting those experiments the last few years. I have been drawn back into my love of Binaural Beats and how to dial in your consciousness.
After a lot of discovery and work, I have created this online course on how to make your own binaural beats and using sound to affect consciousness. It feels pretty amazing to have this thread through my life and find a new way to help others on their own journey. Here is a trailer video for the course:

I am curious what sort of research you have found that actually substantiates this claim that binaural beats directly effect the brainwave frequencies? I have researched this pretty deeply as I too am interested in how music can be used to heal and transform us in positive ways, but my conclusions after this research is that all of the studies being referenced to substantiate these sorts of claims are not valid or are not actually showing a direct cause and effect relationship between binaural beats and brainwave entrainment. Everything I have found stinks of pseudoscience.
What seems to be most common is that people quote studies that have shown a positive benefit but then take the extra step and say that it is actually entraining the brain, or actually growing your hair, or making you wealthy or whatever (there are some pretty extraordinary claims being made out there with binaural beats!). I have found studies that have shown that they create a positive impact on people – but there is no mystery here. You play any music with a steady ambient beat for people and it will bring them more centered and calm the sporadic nature of our minds – no binaural beat needed. But that doesn’t mean it is actually changing the frequency of the brain to match whatever binaural beat is being played. And this should be super easy to test with EEG’s and such!
I think it is a really cool psychoacoustic effect to create a beat, but beyond that it doesn’t appear to me that there are any magical powers that should be attributed to these things – its just another way of making a beat. Please post any relevant resources here if you feel you have found real research contrary to what I have shared. In the end, what matters most is to deepen understanding.
