Adding Analog Warmth to Synths
One thing you have probably heard is the “that sounds electronic, you should add some warmth to it.” Having a warm and analog sound is one of the aspects of making your mix sound pro. To start, lets define Warmth: Warmth comes from electronics and saints that have tubes in them. When you play the instrument, it always sounds different and has a variety because as the tubes, which is part of making the synth, warm up there are slight changes in the sounds. Warmth has come to refer to dynamic changes in your synth as well as a solid fill mid range that is not over driven in the highs. Warmth also refers to a natural and analog sound. Now lets move on to techniques for warming it up. Adding Analog sound to your Mix Amp Modeling is one of the simple and amazing tricks is to add warmth. Programs like Live’s Amp, Native Instruments’ Guitar Rig. Also Wave’s does a good job with a their guitar plugins as well. Images below of those three programs.
Getting Solid Dubstep Wobble Bass
There is always a sense of chasing the dragon with Dubstep and the search for Phat Wobble Bass. This article will take you through the basics of creating a simple dubstep bass to then more advance grooving wobble. Simple Dubstep Wobble Getting that simple wah wah wah is really easy. Here are the steps in creating it. Get a good bass that has lots of high accents. Like a sine wave bass with operator that also has a square wave bass with it. Write out your bass line and then drop an LFO, ‘Low Frequency Oscillator’ on it. The LFO is the amount of wobble. By setting the filter to a lower setting and then getting the llfo% you will create the Wah Wah sound. That will give you the basic sound of the dubstep wobble.
(aq) Hang Drum For Ableton
The hang is an absolutely beautiful instrument that uses the principles of steel drums to create a melodic and rhythmic instrument. From recordings of the Hang I have put together an ableton live pack as well as some great one hit samples. Below is a live set for Ableton Live 8.2 that includes the 3 instruments I have created. There are two basic instruments that are the Hang. One is "light" the other is "hard" hits. The other instrument is called Western Hang. It takes the limited hang notes and turns them into a complete western scale. I also have effects for the Hang in each instrument. You will have to download Supaphasor to have the full effect rack. Below is the files for the Live Pack. If you just want the samples then in the folder you will see another folder names Hang Wave Samples where they are at. This is given as a free resource, but if you want to support then check out my music, or grab an instrument a Live Pack. Download Hang Instrument Download Hang Samples I also just added an SFV of the Hang drum.

Mathematical Rhythms in Music
African music, Japanese drumming, funk, and electronic music has one underlying similarity and that is patterns. Mathematics and music have been intimately intertwined since the days of Pythagoras. There is a new theory and mathmatical musical trend happening right now that uses the Euclidean Algorithm to generate musical rhythms. The Euclidean Algorithm has been used in timing systems in neutron accelerators and can also generate some amazing beats. It’s a simple and awesome tool in beat creation. Read more about the theory at http://www.hisschemoller.com/2011/euclidean-rhythms/ Something that brings it to the next level is this free Euclidean rhythm generator that can send over midi!
