I’m diving more into world music the last few months and experimenting with some asianic sounds. One Instrument that I have been really digging is the Koto.The koto is a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument, similar to the Chinese guzheng. It has a beautiful sound and character.
I’ve built a custom instrument in Live and have been really loving the quality of sound.
I put together a Koto instrument for Ableton using some samples I recorded. Due to the limitation of a DAW I couldn’t get the really nice pitching sound, but I could get it fairly nice by using the pitch wheel on my keyboard. I am also into the gliding sound from note to note so I created a Gliding version of it. This is a free download, so enjoy the rad new instrument to play with.
