How to escape the 8 bar loop and finish more tracks

June 28th, 2017|

Written by Daniel Dixon, content writer for Outro.io We’ve all been there before—you’re writing a track, the separate elements are falling into place, and a steady groove has emerged. But when it comes time to arrange the loop into a full track, things start to fall apart. You’ve become too entrenched in the loop to take it somewhere new, and you’re left feeling stuck. Not knowing where to take your track is a common crux for many producers, leaving us with folders full of incomplete projects. There are, however, many ways to avoid this from happening—check out these seven tricks to help you escape the 8 bar loop and finish more tracks. 1. Use a reference track Listen to a great track within the style you’re trying to create—how did the producer structure it? Drag and drop the track into your DAW, and use locators to make note of where it changes (intro, drop, breakdown etc.), using them as guidelines for your own music. Free Live Drum Rack from Field Recordings

June 23rd, 2017|

I had the awesome oppertunity of being a part of Sonic Bloom Music Academy. We had 20+ students out in nature for a class on music production. 30 hours of class time... it was cray. Had such a great time with everyone. On day two I did an activity on field recording. I had students go out and record samples from the festival grounds, and we turned them into a drum rack. I took these samples and polished them up into an amazing Drum Rack for Ableton Live.  Check out the way they sound in the video below. You will also see a free / by donation download of the Live Pack under the video. [/fusion_youtube]   Download the Live Pack I am actually really stoked on how this Drum Rack sounds. There are lots of cool textures in here. Happy to share this with you all. If you have questions or use the rack in your music, comment below.

iPad Second Monitor for Ableton Live – Windows and Mac

May 29th, 2017|

Just got a new iPad and what was the first thing I did... Control Ableton Live with it. I tried out the best solution for connecting the iPad as a second monitor to a Windows Machine. Best thing I have found is the Duet Display app. Check out my video walkthrough below: [/fusion_youtube] This is the first thing I did and I am stoked with my iPad. If you got any apps or things I have to check out, comment below.
